Your resume will be shared with potential employers. It's your first impression so make sure it highlights your strengths and represents you positively! Be sure to check for spelling and grammar mistakes and make sure all your information is up to date.
At the top of your resume, include a short "Summary" or "About Me" section with 2-3 sentences. It should answer this question: What are your career goals, and how will a Youth Apprenticeship help you achieve them? Should I put my photo on my resume? No, don't include a photo on your resume. Should I put my full address on my resume? No, don't list your full address. Only include the city and state where you live - for example, Manitowoc, WI or Two Rivers, WI.
Education & Classes
List your high school and graduation year. Include classes you’ve taken or are taking that relate to your career goals. For example - if you are applying for a healthcare Youth Apprenticeship, list any science, healthcare, or medical classes you have taken.
Experience
Make sure to list any jobs, volunteer work, or school activities. Include the organization's name, your role or title, and the dates you were involved. Use short bullet points to show what you did and what skills you learned. No paid work experience? That's ok! Volunteering, clubs, sports, or even school projects can be listed to show your skills and experiences. Does babysitting count? Yes! Babysitting can be included as experience on your resume. Can I list household chores or mowing the lawn? That depends. If you are doing the work just to help your family, then no. If you are doing it for a neighbor or as part of volunteer work, then yes!
Skills
Include at least 5 skills that show your best strengths.
